Your Options for Residential Solar Power Systems

There are different options available that could fit your requirement for Energy Independence and Energy Security. We have prepared detailed information for you below and our consultants are looking forward to guide you to the best choice for you.

Residential Solar Power System in Cape Town

Grid-tied PV Systems for Homes

A grid-tied PV System consists of Solar Panels and an Inverter. All Electricity produced has to be consumed in your house during daylight hours, as no Batteries are incorporated.

Most Municipalities accept your excess Electricity Production and redistribute it in their grid. You will receive a credit on your Electricity Bill for every kWh you feed back into the grid.

These Systems require the Municipal / National Grid to function and can’t operate standalone.

The launch of Tesla Powerwall 2 in January 2020 for South Africa has enabled everybody to retro-fit a Battery to their Grid-tied PV System at any point in time.

Residential Solar Battery Systems

A Residential Solar Battery System in Cape Town enables you to operate independently from the grid for 6 to 8 months of the year. It consists of Solar Panels, an Inverter and a Lithium Battery.

You will supply your Home with Solar Electricity during daylight hours and recharge your Lithium Battery for night-time, as well as Load-shedding and Power Failures.

In case of a Power Failure or Load-Shedding, the Solar Battery System will seamlessly change over and supply your house with Electricity.

This is the most common Solar System type in South Africa.

Off-grid Systems

You can be completely self-sufficient with your Residential Solar System and not rely on any Municipal / National Grid Supply anymore.

To achieve this you need to use more Solar Panels and a bigger Lithium Battery to account for high Electricity Usage during a rainy period in Winter.
